This is the story of Isabel and Dylan’s dream intimate wedding that became a reality in South Iceland.
Isabel and Dylan met through mutual friends and Dylan surprised her with a proposal during their romantic sunset picnic overlooking the ocean. And then it was time for them to plan their wedding and they both agreed that they wanted it to be a real adventure.
This was the couple’s first visit to Iceland so they decided to elope in Iceland in September based on the amazing photos they had seen and all the great things they had heard about the country. They were also interested in experiencing Icelandic culture.
Their plan was to have a beautiful symbolic ceremony with their families present (8 guests) and then start their honeymoon right away and see as many beautiful places in Iceland as they could.
During our meeting I showed the couple different location options in different areas of Iceland and they fell in love with South Iceland and the diverse types of landscapes this area offers.
Many of my couples go for South Iceland because they want to combine waterfalls with a glacier and a black sand beach, and this is exactly what Isabel and Dylan wanted as well.
After the couple officially booked their date we talked about each specific location and how we could combine them together into an amazing intimate wedding. They told me that they would really love to have privacy during their ceremony and at the rest of the locations they wanted to prioritise really epic scenery rather than privacy if they had to choose.
This is how we agreed on doing their ceremony at the black sand beach Reynisfjara before the crowds would arrive and then proceed to the glacier and two waterfalls – 4 locations all together.
I then prepared a detailed timeline for the couple that they could also share with their guests as they would of course be driving around in several cars.
The day went just like we planned as the weather was great and no changes were needed.
The groom arrived to the beach first with his family for the first look and a bit later the bride arrived and their first look was so beautiful and emotional! Dylan couldn’t believe how beautiful Isabel looked in her dress!

The couple really liked the look of the basalt columns at the beach and we did the ceremony right in front of them which would not have been possible at any other time of the day due to the crowds.
The ceremony was officiated by Isabel’s sister, which made it extra special and emotional for the couple.

After the ceremony we took some photos at the beach and headed towards the glacier. I love taking my clients all the way to the front of the glacier which takes around 20 minutes one way. The ice looked amazing and blue that day. We got some beautiful shots there that I really love!

Then it was time for Kvernufoss – a waterfall that so many of my couples choose as one of their locations after seeing my photos from behind the waterfall.
And we got lucky at the waterfall too as the sun was out and we had a beautiful rainbow!

The couple absolutely loved the view from behind the waterfall especially – it’s so special to be there and you have to try to understand how incredible it is.

Our last stop was the famous Skogafoss waterfall that never disappoints. The couple was brave and got close to the waterfall where there is a lot of spray for some of the shots and they actually loved how refreshing it was.

This was our beautiful day together and a dream come true for Isabel and Dylan.
Congratulations to the beautiful couple! I’m so grateful to have been a part of their day.
